The Fruit Of My Passion

This species of passiflora bears green fruit, but I am not sure of the identity of the plant . I have requested my fellow passiflora enthusiasts on  Passiflora-Passion Flowers Online to help me with the identification.

I don't know which I love better, the fruit or the flower! The fruit juice is ever so refreshing and zesty! The flower is ever so exotic and incredibly endearing. That is the allure of the passiflora!

  1. That looks just like my passion fruit - does the fruit go yellow? - we wait until it drops off the vine to harvest as that is when they are best. Here it is simply called the yellow passion fruit or I think the official name is Passiflora edulis.

  2. It is a very beautiful plant. A nice treat of pretty flowers and tasty fruit.

  3. My missus grows only the flower type... I would really like to have the fruits...

  4. You now I think you can love them both :) the are very beutiful and taste so good /Suss

  5. It is good to be back at last catching up with your blogging activities, we used to have a Passiflora in the UK and in fact my husband has just purchased some seeds to try and grow one here. We shall see, your photos have reminded me of what a lovely plant it is.

  6. @ africanaussie - Thanks for the ID. The fruit don't actually go yellow. If I pick them, I'd have to let them wrinkle up before they are sweet.

@ MKgirl - they are beginning to fruit more and more. Can you grow them in your area?

@ Lrong - There are so many varieties you wouldn't know where to start!

@ Suss o Kai - Yeah, but I have to admit I love the flowers more.

@ LindyLouMac - Hope the seeeds take to the soil and climate there. Wish you the best!

  7. I like the very 'ET' looks of the flower so i planted one too. I've been waiting for more than 1 year now but it has not bear any fruit yet.

  8. Holy cow.....seriously.....
I had no clue what creative and busy little flowers/fruit trees they were. And what awesome photos of all of it.

    Seriously. I had NO clue.
No wonder they're your passion! ;-)

Drop me a line!
It is always a pleasure to read your comments. I shall certainly try my best to jet over to your blog and catch up with you there.
